Born to Give

This album's music was written within six months after the release of 'Older'. I was really pleased with the lyrics on that album, but some of those lyrics were written in 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012 & 2014. So I decided on this record to write all of the music first then I would write all of the lyrics real quick and in the same year this time...

Well that kind of delayed this album a little, it took awhile to finish and get some lyrics started. I was so attached to some of the feelings these songs gave me while listening and recording them that I wasn't sure how to not affect that with the vocals and lyrics. At one point I even thought to make this an instrumental album! I knew I couldn't do that, so I just kept plugging away at the lyrics over the course of a year and I think this album's message is as great if not better than 'Older'.

The things I wanted to write about were;
Love, Friendship, Jesus, Theology, Physical Pain, Family, Isolation & Confusion. But those ideas are easy to make a list of but actually getting those themes into songs can take some time.

So after all of the vocals and music were recorded and I was in the mixing process someone asked me what the theme of this album is. I had the album title 'Born to Give' but I wasn't really sure if that summed up a certain theme for these songs, but as I thought about it 'Born to Give' does sum these songs up really well. Unselfishness is really what this album is about. In all of those themes I wanted to write about I ended up writing about them in a way that expressed putting others first. Whether that be your spouse, your children, your friends, God in a time of not understanding why things are happening.

The song 'Born to Give' talks about the ultimate example of a giver of everything. Jesus Christ. There will never be anyone like Him ever. Read through the gospels in the Bible and learn about His life, death and resurrection. He was Son of God and put others needs before His own. Someone Who actually deserved to be served, served others.
